Poroshenko and Parubiy go to Fanar for Tomos


President Petro Poroshenko, speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andrew Parubiy and “Metropolitan” Epiphany

The delegation led by President Petro Poroshenko and the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andrew Parubiy will take part in ceremony of signing of the Tomos in Istanbul.

Working visit to Turkey of the heads of the Ukrainian state and Parliament will be held January 5-6. About it reports a press-service of the Parliament.

5-6 January 2019, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrey Parubiy, together with the delegation headed by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will make a working visit to the Republic of Turkey.

The program of the visit – meeting with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, visiting Fanara and meeting with Patriarch Bartholomew.

“The delegation will take part in ceremony of signing of the Tomos of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and in prayer in the Patriarchal Church of St. George. Upon completion of the procedure the signing of Thomas will hear the application: Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Metropolitan of Kiev and all Ukraine, the Epiphany, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko”, – stated in the message of press-service.

6 January, the delegation will take part in the ceremony, Thomas, joint service Patriarch Bartholomew I and “Metropolitan” Epiphany, and in the ceremony of consecration of the water in the Bay “Golden horn”.

We will remind, earlier the head of state said that the Russian Federation uses “their Church network” in Ukraine as an extensive channel of influence.

As reported by the SPM, in November 2018, the President also said that the ROC “is an element of the Russian political system” and called on “representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church” to leave Ukraine.
