The Church news Agency “Romfea” published a one page project Charter created at the initiative of the authorities of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine. The document was approved by the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Constantinople at the meeting, 27-29 November 2018, according to the portal “Orthodox life” with reference to Ria.ru.
According to the draft of the Charter, to lead the new Church is not the Patriarch, and Metropolitan. It will form a part of the Synod of the Ukrainian diocesan bishops, “canonically elected and ordained, and acting”.
In its activities the “independent” Churches have to follow including the Patriarchal and Synodal Tomos, which granted her autocephaly.
“Members of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church in Ukraine are all Orthodox Christians living in the country, regardless of nationality”, – specified in the project Charter.
The Ukrainian Orthodox Diaspora, stated in the document, will receive pastoral care not from Kiev, and from the diocesan bishops of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
