According to the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, “the unprecedented intervention of state power” in the religious life takes place in a country that openly declares its commitment to European values.

This goal, according to the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, is the desire to “break the last ties that bind our peoples, and this relationship is a spiritual relationship”.
“What is happening in Ukraine can be used as a precedent – says his Holiness. – And so all that is supported, including religious pluralism, religious freedom and real human rights, in all likelihood, will cease to be untouchable, especially if all these values are, so to speak, will someone on the way to solution of certain political problems.”
The Patriarch is convinced that what is happening now in Ukraine is a very dangerous phenomenon for the whole world, because “Ukraine can become an example of how easy it can be to deal with any laws in any manner with any rights, including the human and if need be the powers that be”.
