In a series of films “the Saints and the righteous of the twentieth century” there is another film about the spiritual heroism of the righteous Pochaev monk Amphilochius, according to “the Union of Orthodox journalists.”
On the YouTube channel of the magazine “FOMA in Ukraine” took place the premiere of the film “Amphilochius of Pochayiv”.
The new film has entered a cycle of films about modern Orthodox saints “the Saints and the righteous of the twentieth century”, created in 2013, TV Agency “Profi TV” together with the editorial Board.
“The venerable Amphilochius of Pochayiv is one of the closest Orthodox people of the saints of the twentieth century. During his life he was respected no less than after death. He was one of those who are not allowed to turn the Pochaev Lavra in the “Communist village”,” say the creators of the project.
The film includes eyewitness accounts and comments of the priests and Church historians. The premiere took place on the birthday of the venerable STS.
The venerable Amphilochius of Pochayiv was born 27 November 1894 in the village Mala Ilovytsya, in the Ternopil region. Took monastic vows in Pochayiv Lavra, was glorified as a great Orthodox ascetic and healer. Died January 1, 1971 and was canonized by the Holy Synod of the UOC in 2002.
