Restorers will restore the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Klopsk monastery in Novgorod region

Trinity Cathedral Klopsk monastery in Novgorod region, which was built by order of Ivan the terrible, will be restored. Specialists will restore brickwork and mount crosses, reports TASS with reference to the North-Western Directorate for construction, reconstruction and restoration.

“The General condition of the South chapel is estimated by experts as an emergency. The monument, which next year will be 450 years old, suffers from leaks. Roof misses the rain, the wet walls with paintings of XVIII – XIX centuries,” the message reads. Specialists will perform the restoration of masonry walls and vaults of the southern aisle of the Cathedral, repaired the roof and the attic will produce and install the crosses, put the doors and Windows.

Cathedral of the Trinity Klopsk monastery is located in a picturesque place on the river Verage 23 km from Veliky Novgorod and is a unique monument of architecture. The building was constructed by order of Ivan the terrible, has a complex composition with four outdoor chapels, a gallery and a bell tower. Now the North-Western Directorate is holding a contest to carry out repair and restoration work, the Agency will consider applications on 5 July.
