ROC: Agreement Poroshenko Constantinople violates the Constitution of Ukraine

The signing by President Petro Poroshenko cooperation agreements with Panaram violates foundations of the constitutional order in Ukraine, said Archpriest Nikolai Balashov.

Representatives of the secular power unauthorized to negotiate on the Church structure in Ukraine. This was announced on 3 November the Deputy head of the Synodal Department for external Church relations Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, reports “Interfax”.

“It is strange that the dialogue of Church structure in Ukraine, the Patriarch of Constantinople is not with those who are competent in such matters, and with representatives of the secular power. It is a clear violation of the constitutional order of the Ukrainian state”, – said the representative of the Russian Orthodox Church.

He suggested that “the desire of Mr. Poroshenko to purchase additional resources outweighs all the electoral law”. Harder to understand, said Deputy head of the DECR, what motivates the hierarchy of the Church of Constantinople.

In General, according to Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, signed in Istanbul the agreement reaffirms the intention of the parties to move towards the creation of a new Church in Ukraine, however “earlier has already been mentioned repeatedly, so the value of events is small.”

As reported by the SPM, the agreement “On cooperation and interaction between Ukraine and the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople” the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew signed at the meeting in Istanbul on 3 November. The press service of the President reported that the agreement on cooperation between Ukraine and Constantinople is an agreement on the establishment of an independent Ukrainian Church.
