Scientists publish the documents on joining of the Kyiv Metropolitanate of the Russian Orthodox Church

“Orthodox encyclopedia” begins the publication of documents on the annexation of the Kyivan Metropolitanate of the Russian Orthodox Church in 1678-1686.

In the Church-scientific center “Orthodox encyclopedia” completed work on a scientific edition of the large amount of newly uncovered documents relating to the annexation of the Kyivan Metropolitanate of the Russian Orthodox Church, reports “Week”.

“The events of recent days, the publication of individual materials of the Synaxis of the Church of Constantinople, as well as the abundance of not quite accurate information and interpretations, overwhelming today, various online editions, force us to go on an unprecedented step: set the “Orthodox encyclopedia” begins to make a preliminary publication of a document corpus relevant to the subject, as previously published and newly identified,” – said in a research center.

Forthcoming papers cover and earlier events that are inextricably linked to the historical background of the merger.

Great job that is close to the end, did a group of researchers under the leadership of corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Boris Flory. To carry out the publication is planned in late 2018 – early 2019.

Publication is preliminary in nature, therefore part of the documents will be published in the modern Russian chart (documents, past reconciliation), a portion in the originals.

As reported by the SPM to the 400th anniversary of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy was published two-volume encyclopedia “Kiev theological Academy in names”, which includes about 650 full-length biographical articles.
