Photographer Sean Hawkey intends to publish a book-album in which he tells about the unusual fate of the inhabitants of Honduras, bearing the name of Jesus.
British photographer Sean Hawkey has opened a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the publication of the book “the Real face of Jesus.” It is reported by Rublev.
The book is a gallery of portraits of Latino residents of Honduras. The heroes project, joined by the fact that they are common enough in this region the name “Jesus” – Jesus.
“This book is full of scary and beautiful stories, it is a triumphant study of human resilience and faith. We are talking about finding something sacred in the people around us, to see Jesus in our neighbor. The book is a series of evidence, calling us to love Jesus and our neighbor, no matter how difficult it may be,” writes the author in the annotation project.
For many years photographer working in Latin America, so he is familiar with the complexities in the region.
“Today Honduras is going through a dramatic time: violence and gangs, political turmoil, mass migration, and murder of indigenous leaders <…>. But among the difficulties of everyday life, there are rich cultural and spiritual life. This book is about the meeting of faith and social issues. This is a book about Jesus – about the people who have the name Jesus written in the passports and the surrounding whose name is Jesus, and their unusual life stories,” – said Hawks.
One of the heroes of the project – the leader of the indigenous communities in the name of Jesus. His family members were killed in the fight for the land that they wanted to work to support themselves.
Sean Hawkey was born in 1965 in Brighton (UK). He has worked in Latin America for twelve years, working on the restoration of the countries of the region, destroyed a long military and civil conflicts. Hawks then became a freelance photographer. His work has been published by leading news agencies and periodicals of the world. In 2016 Sean Hawkey has worked as a photographer for the Cretan Church.
