The Synodal Department for charity has summarized the open contest of projects aimed at the prevention of abortion. The competition was won by 142 projects from 93 dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church. Thanks to the funds allocated in Russia in 2019, will appear 13 new shelters for mothers, 57 new centers of maternity protection, in addition, 72 project will expand the existing activities towards the protection of life and prevention of abortions, according to Diakonia.
The winners will receive a total of 38 million rubles collected by the blessing of his Holiness Patriarch Kirill in all Russian churches for children’s Day in 2018. Collected funds on a competitive basis distributed of the Synodal Department for charity.
Today in the Russian Orthodox Church are 58 shelters for women with children, 57 of them were created over the past 7 years. Also in Russia there are 166 Church humanitarian aid.
“Help to women in crisis situations, prevention of abortion is the top priority of Church social activities. That is why for the second time his Holiness Patriarch Kirill blessed to hold a national fundraiser for the development of this work. We hope that the new shelters and centres for the protection of motherhood will help save more lives of children”, – said the Chairman of the Synodal Department for charity Bishop of Orekhovo-Zuevo Panteleimon.

Recall that the previous competition for the creation of projects to help women and children of the Synodal Department for charity held in 2016. The contest was open 100 new centres for humanitarian aid in Russia’s 89 regions.
