Meeting of the Diocesan Council of the diocese of Chernivtsi

The members of the Diocesan Council approved the text of the statements that the clergy and laity sent to the address of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and other officials.

29 Jan 2019 the Diocesan Council Chernivtsi eparchy of the UOC signed a statement, which sent 12 representatives from different levels of government.

30 January 2019 the participants of the prayer vigils in the city Zastavna gave extended treatment to the head of local state administration.

“We exist in Ukraine legitimately. Are law-abiding citizens, and because, consequently, public authorities must protect our rights, freedoms and interests,” reminded the authorities of the members of the Diocesan Council.

The authors focused the attention of politicians on the fact that no one in the diocese has no plans to go to ptsu.

“Neither one diocese does not represent the intention to change their subordination to the (jurisdiction) to liquidate, reorganize or merge with any other religious organization,” wrote in the text of the document.

The reason for this statement was an outright violation of the legitimate rights of believers of the UOC.

“Appeal to You, the clergy and faithful of the diocese of Chernivtsi of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church need to immediately respond and prevent misconduct committed on the territory of Chernivtsi region”, called on the President of the Diocesan Council

Such statements intend to send to all heads of regional state administrations.

30 January 2019, the clergy and faithful of the diocese of Chernivtsi, headed by the Metropolitan of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna Meletius, went in procession through the streets of the city Zastavna Chernivtsi region to Zastavnitskogo district administration to meet with officials and to urge them to stop the lawlessness in relation to the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which “the government cynically observes”.
