Head of the representative office of the UOC to the European international institutions Bishop Baryshevsky Victor at celebrations in Strasbourg
Representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church exercise pastoral mission in Europe.
On October 9 the delegation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was presented at the conference of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, a unique exhibition of Orthodox shrines. On the same day the Bishop Baryshevsky Victor spent the morning Liturgy in the only Orthodox Church of Strasbourg – the Cathedral of All saints.
The pastoral mission of the UOC cities in Western Europe dedicated to 1030 anniversary of the Baptism of Kievan Rus, according to the Information and education division. “We came here to talk together, to think, to understand the depth of the gift which we received after the baptism of Kievan Rus”, – explained the purpose of the mission, Archbishop Victor.
Ukrainians gave spiritual and educational center of the parish an icon of the venerable fathers of Kievo-Pechersk. It was written by the sisters of the Holy Archangel Michael nunnery, Odessa, specially for the Orthodox Strasbourg.
Among the parishioners of the Church of All saints – came from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Serbia and Germany.
The next town on the route mission – Milan.
In 2018 celebrated 1030 years since the Baptism of Kyivan Rus by the Holy equal to the apostles Prince Vladimir. These days the Ukrainian Orthodox Church follows the events unfolding around the creation of the so-called one Local Church.
