Church and community project “Kvartal Louie” will be a pilot site for the development of youth practices for people with disabilities, according to Diakonia. This was stated by Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting with representatives of public organizations of disabled persons. “I was hoping to help the Prime Minister and went to this meeting, knowing that more such opportunity. My task was to talk about the fact that young people with disabilities after boarding are in nursing homes and that need some sort of alternative, need to develop a system of features: settlements, internship programs, communities, employment, – said the head of the direction of helping people with disabilities of the diocese of Penza and projects “Kvartal Louie” and “the House of Veronica,” Maria Lviv-Belova. – Young people with disabilities want to be equal, go out, and it’s time for us to depart from old patterns and to begin to work differently. “Kvartal Louie” – the house followed the residence of young people with disabilities in Penza. Young people with disabilities live in a separate house along with volunteers and specialists who help them to get a profession, the skills needed for independent living, and to develop confidence in their abilities. For five years, young people undergo training, find a job and go out into the world and provide for their families.

During the meeting Dmitry Medvedev also highlighted a number of initiatives worthy of support or further development. It was about solving problems with housing and employment for people with disabilities, develop a system that allows a disabled person to quickly contact emergency services, on the preparation of interagency concept paper on early help and support with the regional component and others.
In addition to the “Kvartal Louie” in Penza Maria Lvova-Belova, with the support of the diocese has created a home followed by living “the House of Veronica”. For people with a disability is offered employment in a printing house, located in the diocesan office of the diocese of Penza. In printing there are four wheelchair and three healthy people.
