January 3, the day of repose of the Holy Hierarch of Kyiv and all Rus Peter, Primate of Moscow and Wonderworker, in the capital centre will be the first in the new year procession, the website of the vysoko-Petrovsky monastery.
Annual Petrovsky route of the procession will completely go around the ancient High-Petrovsky monastery. The clergy and faithful will be held on Petrovka street, Krapivinskia the alley and Petrovsky Boulevard. During the procession the participants in the procession around the monastery will be carried by the main monastery Shrine – a life-size icon of St. Peter with the particle of his Holy relics.
A festive service in the vysokopetrovsky monastery in day of memory of St. Peter will be headed by the Archbishop of Sergiev Posad Feognost, Chairman of the Synodal Department for monasteries and monasticism, Abbot of Holy Trinity St. Sergius Lavra. In the Liturgy will also be attended by the abbots of the Moscow monasteries and the clergy of the capital.
The day before, January 2, at St. Sergius Church of the monastery is committed vigil, which is traditionally held on national akafistnaya singing Saint Peter.
Festivities will take place in the following order:
January 2:
- 17:00 – Vespers with akathist to St. Peter (the confession during and after the service)
January 3:
- 8:00 – blessing of the water
- 9:00 – festal divine Liturgy
- 11:00 – procession
- 12:00 – treats of samovars
