The Governor of the Kiev Lavra: don’t be surprised if there are searches and harassment

About it the Governor of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra was told during a briefing that was held in Laurel on Thursday, November 29, the “Vesti”.

“I received information – it is reliable, but closed… – said the Bishop. – The fact that I charged on the basis of religion – which I incorrectly refer to Patriarch Bartholomew that some obscene words called Filaret is all speculation and not true. Patriarch Bartholomew I have been treated with respect.”

Commenting on the threats to Laura, and to him personally, Metropolitan Pavel said that does not rule out he searches by the security services: “do Not be surprised if there will be searches and harassment”.

“I want to assure you: I am a citizen of my country, I am the son of Ukraine, who would not say, – said the Archbishop and added that he is not afraid of prosecution: – If there is really such pressure, if they searched – I will not stand in the way. Let them go, searching. I don’t have any forbidden literature, do not have absolutely anything that could be a threat to my homeland. But the interests of the Church I will defend!”

As reported by the SPM, during the briefing, Metropolitan Pavel said that the actions of public authorities in respect of the UOC cannot be called legitimate fully.

We will remind, on Wednesday, November 28, in Kiev-Pechersk Lavra began its work the special Commission of the Ministry of culture, which conducts an inventory of the relics transferred to the monastery 30 years ago. According to the press service of the UOC, the work of the Commission takes place under the supervision of the monks, the guards of the caves and members of the Spiritual Council of the monastery.
