Hierarch of the Greek Orthodox Church Metropolitan Kiparsky and Anticiparse Seraphim in his Christmas message touched on the non-canonical actions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in Ukraine, according to patriarhiei.
“Unfortunately, we recognize with deep regret that the recent recognition of the autocephaly of Ukraine headed by the Primate, until recently a schismatic Bishop who is not recognized by other national Orthodox Churches, <…> has created significant canonical problem with unpredictable consequences for the inseparable unity of Christ’s Holy Orthodox Church” — said the Hierarch, who leads the outreach Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with reference to the Agency “Romfea”.
Metropolitan Seraphim noted that the Local Orthodox Churches consider it canonical his Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry headed by the Synod.
The Hierarch of the Greek Orthodox Church also called for convening a pan-Orthodox Council to establish canonical order in this situation: “Humbly think that the return to the sacred canonical order and canonical path will be achieved through the Holy Spirit the convening and the proceedings of the pan-Orthodox Council”.
“Cherish hope and hot offer petitions to the divine child for the speedy recovery of the Divine world in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to disappear the terrible schism and there was unanimity and divine love in the long-suffering Ukrainian people”, — said the Hierarch.
