Now researchers argue, about who of historical figures written life: some are inclined to believe that it was Prince David and his wife Euphrosyne in monasticism Peter and Fevronia, who died in 1228, others see them as spouses Peter and Euphrosyne, who reigned in Murom in the XIV century.

Recorded the story of blgv. Peter and Fevronia in the XVI century the priest. Prekrasny Ermolai (in monasticism Erasmus), a talented writer, widely known in the era of Ivan the terrible. Preserving the life of folk characteristics, he created a surprisingly poetic tale of wisdom and love – the gifts of the Holy spirit pure in heart and humble in God.

PRP. Peter was the younger brother who reigned in Murom blgv. Paul. Once in the family Paul was a trouble – the obsession of the devil is to his wife was to fly a kite. Sorrowful woman, conceded demonic force, all told her husband. The Prince punished his wife to ferret out the villain the mystery of his death. It turned out that the death of the adversary “are destined from Petrov’s shoulder and Agricola sword”. Found out about this, kN. Peter immediately decided to kill the rapist, relying on the help of God. Soon the prayer in the temple was opened where Agric’s sword, and tracked down the snake, Peter had struck him. But before the death of the serpent sprayed the winner with poisonous blood and the Prince’s body was covered with scabs and sores.

No one could heal Peter from a serious illness. Humbly enduring suffering, the Prince of all surrendered to God. And the Lord, industrial about His chosen servant, sent him to the land of Ryazan. One of the boys, sent in search of the doctor, accidentally walked into the house, where he found the work lonely girl named Fevronia, the daughter of the poison frog, who had the gift of clairvoyance and healing. After all the questioning Fevronia punished the servant: “Bring your Prince here. If he be sincere and humble in his words, it will be healthy!”

Prince, who to go, could not, brought to the house, and he sent to ask who wants to cure him. And promised that, if cure, is a great reward. “I want to cure him – bluntly replied Febronia, but no rewards from it are not required. But to him my word: if I don’t wife him, it is not proper for me to treat him.” Peter promised to marry, but in my heart slukavil: pride of the Prince’s family prevented him to agree to such a marriage. Fevronia dipped sourdough bread, blew on it and ordered the Prince to wash in the bath and lubricate all scabs, except for one.

Gracious girl had the wisdom of St. fathers and appointed such treatment is not accidental. As Lord and Savior, healing lepers, blind and lame, through bodily infirmities healed soul and Fevronia, knowing that the disease suffer God during the test and for the sins of the prescribed treatment for the flesh, implying spiritual meaning. Bath, FR. Scripture, the image of baptism and cleansing of sins (Eph. 5: 26), leaven’s the Lord likened the Kingdom of heaven, inherit the soul which is the best bath of baptism (LK. 13: 21). Because Fevronia sight of the wickedness and pride of Peter, she told him to leave ungreased a scab one as evidence of sin. Soon this whole scab disease recommenced, and the Prince came back to Fevronia. The second time he kept his word. “And they arrived in their fiefdom, the city of Moore, and began to live a godly life and not transgressing the commandments of God”.

After the death of his brother Peter has become a Czar in the city. The nobles respected his Prince, but haughty boyar wives disliked Fevronia, not wanting to be the ruler over a woman, brush up on their husbands unkind. All sorts of slanders were trying to build the Princess the nobles, and once rebelled and, lost the shame, offered Fevronia, taking what she pleases, to leave the city. Princess nothing but his wife did not want to. Happy nobles, because everyone secretly wanted to be Prince’s place, and told everything to the Prince. Blessed Peter learned that he wanted to separate with his beloved wife, chose to voluntarily relinquish power and wealth and to retire with her into exile.

The couple floated down the river on two boats. A man traveling with his family together with Saint Febronia, staring at the Princess. Holy wife immediately guessed his thoughts and gently rebuked: “Posebni water on either side of the boat – asked the Princess. The same water or is one sweeter than the other?” – “The same,” he answered. “And the same female nature, ‘ said Febronia. Why are you forgetting your wife, thinking about someone else?” Reproof embarrassed and repented in the shower.

In the evening they moored to the shore and began to settle in for the night. “What will become of us?” – was brooding Peter and Fevronia, a wise and good wife, affectionately consoled him: “do Not grieve, Prince, the merciful God, Creator and Defender of all will not leave us in trouble!” At this time, the chef went to cook dinner and to hang pots, chopped down two small trees. When ended the repast, the Princess blessed those stubs with the words: “may they be on the morning of the big trees.” And so it happened. This wonder she wanted to strengthen the spouse, knowing their fate. After all, if “for a tree there is hope that it is, if it be cut down, will live again” (job. 14: 7), the person, trust and hope in the Lord will have blessings in this life and the hereafter.

They did not have time to Wake up, came the ambassadors from Murom, begging Peter to come back to reign. The boyars quarreled over power, shed the blood and now you’re looking for peace and tranquility. Blessed John Paul II. Peter and Febronia with humility returned to his city and ruled happily ever after, in bestowing charity with the prayer of the heart. When old age came, they took monastic vows with the names David and Euphrosyne, and entreated of God to die for them at one time. To bury himself bequeathed together in a specially prepared coffin with a thin partition in the middle.

They died on the same day and hour, each in his cell. People considered it wicked to be buried in one coffin and the monks dared to violate the will of the deceased. Twice their bodies were carried to different churches, but twice they miraculously happened to be there. And buried the Holy spouses together for about the Cathedral Church of the Nativity of the blessed virgin Mary, and whosoever believeth found here generous healing.
