Pope Francis has appointed prefect of the Department of communications, Paolo Ruffini, until now Director of TV channel of the Italian Episcopal conference.

To manage the press office and related departments for the Holy see will be the 62-year-old layman, a lawyer and journalist Paolo Ruffini. Until that moment, he was the Director of TV 2000, owned by the Italian Episcopal conference, according to the regnum.ru.

Paolo Ruffini was born in Palermo on 4 October 1956, graduated in Rome, faculty of law, started in journalism in 1979. Worked in the publications “Il Mattino” (Naples) and “Il Messaggero” (Rome), RAI radio, on “Radio 1” radio “Inblu” on TV channel “RAI 3” at the seventh channel of the Italian television, and from 2014 to 2018, led the TV channel “TV 2000”.
