The parable of the good Samaritan

The gospel of Luke, Chapter 10

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tempted Him, saying, Master, what must I do to inherit eternal life?

He said to him: in the law what is written? how readest thou?

He answered: “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all thy strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.

and [Jesus] said unto him, thou hast answered right; this do, and thou shalt live.

But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus: and who is my neighbor?

so Jesus said, a certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

now By chance a priest was going down that way: and seeing him, passed by.

and likewise a Levite, when place, came and looked, and passed.

a certain Samaritan journeyed, came where he was and saw him, he had compassion

And went to him, bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an Inn and took care of him.

And the next day departed, he took out two denarii, gave to the innkeeper and said to him: “take care of him; and if spendest more, I, when will return, will repay you”.

which of these three do you think was a neighbor that fell among the robbers?

He said, he that shewed him mercy. Then said Jesus unto him, go, and do thou likewise.
