His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry on the services of the day of the great Martyr Panteleimon
His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry said on the example of the Saint’s hagiography of Pateleymona, what is the danger of envy.
Is never “black” and “white” envy, any envy is directed against another and it is necessary to get rid of. About it his Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Onufry said in his sermon on the day of memory Panteleimon, according to Information-enlightenment Department of the UOC.
His Beatitude recalled that the martyrdom of St. Panteleimon was sent to other doctors who were jealous of him.
“We often envy, jealousy divide into “black” and “white,” said the Archbishop. – It is clear that “black” envy sent to another person was bad, and “white” envy alleged against the person has nothing, just someone who is jealous wants to be like the one who thrives.”
However, this incorrect division, said his Beatitude Onufry.
“And “white” and “black” envy are sinful, the Archbishop stressed. – Envy is envy, one of the varieties of pride, when man thinks that he deserves the best.”
His Beatitude Onufry explained how to respond to successes correctly.
“We need to rejoice, to thank God for what He gave to another person’s successes, talents, achievements, said the Archbishop. – In Christianity there is such a thing as jealousy. This kind of effort to keep pace with the middle in the desire to be the best, and not to snowsuits and don’t want to hurt anyone.”
In the end, the Primate wished them to pray to St. Panteleimon on how to be good Christians who love all, respect all, anyone in no way jealous, but only strive also to be good, truthful before God.
Earlier his Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry said that just reading the Scriptures one attains spiritual measurements with which to determine where the truth and a lie.
