His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Onufry
All earthly things are vain, but the great fact that was brought to earth is the Lord’s, noted his Beatitude, Metropolitan Onufry.
The earth could not rise to Heaven, the man could not cleanse themselves from sinful, but God came and the Sky bowed to the ground and took the man to the Sky to make it a child of God. About this said on 13 January during a sermon at the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra on the day of leave-taking of the feast of Nativity of his Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Onuphrius, reports the outreach Department of the UOC.
Metropolitan Onufry said that the Holy Church is not just remembering in these days of the great event of the Nativity of the son of God, and recalls with gratitude the humility that the Lord had shown during His Christmas when He is the Lord and Creator of the Universe took upon Himself the form of a servant. “The angels rejoiced, seeing this wonderful phenomenon, I did not know until the end of this mystery but knew that in the world there was something unusual and great,” he added.
The Primate told how the Holy family fled to Egypt from king Herod, and remembered cases where people, and even plants extol the infant Christ.
In conclusion, Metropolitan Onufry said that today, when so much time has passed since that sacred event, we live, often making many unnecessary movements and without realizing main. “But the time will come when one realizes how all of the earth – in vain – and how great that God brought to earth, how great is that God has reconciled us with Heaven, how great is that God made us able to enter into eternal life in Heaven” – concluded the Metropolitan Onufry.
Earlier his Beatitude Onufry said that the Lord teaches us to love and avoid evil, because evil is not a thing with which people should be friends.
