The Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church did not make a proposal to hold a pan-Orthodox Cathedral of the primates of local Churches in connection with the Church situation in Ukraine, said Vladimir Legoyda.

The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church in his address urged to initiate fraternal pan-Orthodox discussion on the Church situation in Ukraine, said the head of the Synodal Department of the ROC for Church-state relations with society and mass-media Vladimir Legoyda in his account in the Telegram.

“Dear colleagues-journalists and all interested! The Synod initiated the pan-Orthodox Council on the subject of Ukrainian autocephaly. These headers and their consequences will be on Your conscience. In a statement, the Synod said the following: “Realizing that what is happening is a danger to the entire world of Orthodoxy, turning in this hour of need for support to local Autocephalous Churches, urge the primates imbued with an understanding of our common responsibility for the fate of the world Orthodoxy and to initiate fraternal pan-Orthodox discussion on the Church situation in Ukraine”, – wrote Vladimir Legoyda.

According to him, it is not about specific forms of this discussion, we are talking about the principle.

Earlier in mass media appeared information that the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church proposed to hold a pan-Orthodox Council in connection with the discussion of the question of autocephaly in Ukraine.

As reported by PWC, September 14, in the Danilov monastery in Moscow held an extraordinary session of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church. His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Onufry took part in the meeting of the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church via video link in connection with the condition. The Primate of the UOC announced to the members of the Synod about the situation in connection with the appointment in Ukraine of the exarchs of the Church of Constantinople.
