The Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church called on the Patriarchate of Constantinople to cease interference in the internal Affairs of the UOC

    

The Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church at the meeting held on 25 September 2018 at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, expressed his attitude to the appointment by the Patriarchate of Constantinople “exarchs” in Kiev (Log No. 17). Reported Information-enlightenment Department of the UOC.

This appointment was called a flagrant interference in the internal Affairs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and violation of its canonical territory. Accordingly, the Synod called on Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople to cease interference in the internal Affairs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and not to violate its canonical territory.

“”Exarch” of the Patriarchate of Constantinople Pamphylian Archbishop Daniel and Bishop Ilarion of Edmonton needs to leave the canonical territory of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church”, — stated in the decision and noted that their activity is anticanonically and violates inter-confessional peace in Ukraine.

The bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church approved to suspend the concelebration with the hierarchs of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

Members of the Holy Synod called upon the clergy, monastics and faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to intensify their prayers for the preservation of the unity of Holy Orthodoxy.
