The Synod requested the Primate to inform local Churches about the pressure on UOC

At the latest in 2018 the meeting of the Holy Synod of the UOC decided to inform the local Churches, embassies and the Ombudsman about the unconstitutional policy of the authorities against the Church.

7 December 2018 at the residence of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church his Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine Onufriy held a final meeting of the Holy Synod of the UOC, said Information and education division.

10 bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church discussed the results of the work of the Synodal institutions and the unconstitutional actions of politicians in the UPC.

In connection with the violation of the constitutional rights of believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the Holy Synod requested his Beatitude Onufry to send an official information letter about the pressure on the clergy and laity of the local Orthodox Churches, the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on human rights and international human rights organizations, accredited in Ukraine Embassy.

The head of the Legal Department of the UOC Archpriest Alexander Behova obliged to carry out “monitoring and fixing of violations of the rights of the clergy, laity and institutions of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.”

As reported by the SPM, the members of the Holy Synod blessed the believers of the UOC to take part in a “unification Council”.
