According to the MOE, 243 remain flooded houses, 28 houses adjoining areas of multi-storey houses and 672 of the infield. Throughout the Baikal region entered emergency mode. From the first days of the flood of Nerchinsk, the diocese provides assistance to people caught in the disaster zone. A special appeal in connection with the flood were made by the Bishop of Krasnokamensk and Nerchinsk Axi. In chilka and other human settlements, the diocese has established centres of humanitarian assistance to the victims. Nerchinsk diocese has launched a special website SOS Transbaikalia, which publishes the current information on the needs of the victims and videos from the event. Also in Nerchinsk diocese organized a fundraiser to help the victims.
“We bought food, nearly half a ton of water began the formation of food packages for the victims, – said the head of the social Department of the diocese of Nerchinsk Svetlana Tyshkevich. – We also provide people with basic necessities: rubber boots, warm socks, hygiene products, including diapers for infants and bedridden patients evacuated from a zone of flooding”.
