The TV channel “Spas” will show a documentary about the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

    

14 December at 21:50 on TV channel “Spas” will be a documentary project “Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Photo of the Millennium”. The film tells about the history of one of the main Orthodox shrines, the fate of the monastery in the twentieth century, in the era of the most severe tests, and its revival after the resumption of monastic life here. The crew project held by secret corridors, where long years no one has gone before pilgrim. The audience will see unique shots of photos, archival documents, episodes from the life of the monks of the monastery, hidden from prying eyes – monastic vows, obedience, community meal, etc. the Film was awarded at the VIII International TV festival “TEFI-Commonwealth”.

Kiev-Pechersk Lavra – one of the first monasteries in the territory of Kievan Rus. It was founded in 1051 by the monk Antony, after he returned from the Holy mount Athos and brought to our land the Athonite tradition of monastic life. From that moment began the history of monasticism in Russia. Kiev-Pechersk Lavra — the unique monastery complex, unique is no more. Here almost intact preserved temples, built in the XI century. The cloister there are fourteen Orthodox churches, a monastery, the Kiev Theological Academy, seven museums and one of the first in Russia of the printers.
