Patriarch Kirill and Patriarch Bartholomew
Meeting the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church with Patriarch Bartholomew will lead to a détente in the relations of Constantinople and the Moscow Patriarchate, believes Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich.
During the meeting, which will take place in Istanbul, will be the ways of solution of many urgent problems to strengthen inter-Orthodox unity. This was written by the Deputy head of the DECR of the UOC Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich on his page in Facebook.
“There is reason to believe, for world Orthodoxy it will be a positive event which would lead to detente in relations between the Constantinople and Moscow Patriarchates, and therefore will improve the entire climate of inter-Orthodox relations. I think that will be resolved, or at least the ways of solution of many urgent problems, with the ultimate goal of consolidating inter-Orthodox unity. In any case, the direct dialogue of the Heads of Churches is always better than an exchange of correspondence statements in the media that we have seen so far”, – he stressed.
According to him, in the Orthodox world and among the local Orthodox Churches now felt the General desire of unity and consolidation, and to solve the accumulated problems: “None of the local Churches is not configured for the generation of new schisms. These are the trends and sentiments in inter-Orthodox relations today.”
“So the vain hopes of those forces, who hope to solve their problems even by a split between the individual members of the Ecumenical Orthodoxy,” – said father Nikolai.
