On 20 December the Verkhovna Rada will be held a prayer vigil in connection with the possible adoption of bill No. 5309 of renaming the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The worship will start at 9.30 am. This was announced by the believers on December 19 the Governor of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Metropolitan Vyshgorod and Chernobyl Paul, after the Liturgy in St. Nicholas Cathedral of the Svyato-Pokrovsky monastery in Kiev, reports “the Union of Orthodox journalists” with reference to the “Foma in Ukraine”.
On December 17 the speaker of the Parliament Andrei Parubiy said that the agenda of the Verkhovna Rada on 20 December will be a bill No. 5309 “On amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On freedom of conscience and religious organizations” regarding the names of religious organizations (associations), which are included in the structure (is part of) religious organizations (enterprises), leadership (control) of which is located outside of Ukraine in the state, the law recognized has carried out military aggression against Ukraine and/or temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine”.
